The Japanese people are struggling now, and hundreds of thousands are evacuated. A lot of big companies have given aid to the Japanese people. But their intention is not primarily to help the people, it's to get their company a good reputation. People need to have this in mind whenever big companies "help out" poor areas. Of course it helps - but take their kindness with a grain of salt.
